In  1995,  Stuart  Buffington  was  watching  a  mason  build  a  kiva  fireplace.  The  fireplace  took  several  days  to  complete as  the  mason  constructed  the  labor  intensive  fireplace  brick  by  brick.  Stuart  thought  to  himself,  “There  has  to  be  a better way”, and in his garage he invented the Adobelite Kiva Fireplace Kit.After  the  success  of  Adobelite,  Contempo  Fireplaces  was  created  to  satisfy  the  need  for  a  traditional  fireplace created with the same lightweight patented design.While  the  original  operation  quickly  outgrew  his  garage,  shipping  product  all  over  the  country,  the  same  visions  of ingenuity, quality, and pride remain with the company to this day.Adobelite and Contempo Fireplaces remain family owned and operated in Albuqueruqe, NM
